"marked him out as a rare diamond"

Dave

Lets Dive Deeper!

"What can I say about the late, great John Sykes? With that mane of blond hair and a self-assured swagger, he epitomised late 80s 'rock god' cool. But more than that, his fretboard talents and innate songwriting abilities marked him out as a rare diamond in an ever-expanding sea of corporate-sponsored mediocrity. Loved his playing since I first heard him with the Tygers Of Pan Tang on 'Spellbound', and followed his career avidly ever since. This track stands out on a Blue Murder debut that was littered with classics and really shows who shaped the sound adopted by his former employer on '1987'... RIP John, thanks for the music!"
