Lets Dive Deeper!
"Another classic act that never seem to age, Thin Lizzy were a band I first discovered in the late 70s via Top Of the Pops appearnaces showcasing characteristically untypical songs such as 'Sarah' and 'Do Anything You Want to Do'. Wasn't overly impressed at first I have to admit, but when I eventually heard the awesome 'Live And Dangerous' and learned what they were really all about, all preceeding doubts were bansihed forever.
Led by charismatic Irishman and bassist/vocalist Phil Lynott, Thin Lizzy had a distinct twin guitar sound all their own, a sound that has endured and inspired for five decades. But what track to pick? Anything off the aforementioned 'Live And Dangerous' set for starters, but the four studio albums that followed it also had a feast of musical gems that provided much needed succour for the soul. In the end I settled on 'Emerald', the rabble-rousing, clarion call to arms that was always a highlight of any set... that riff and those defiant lyrics recounting the eternal struggle of the downtrodden against their brutal opressors.
Lynott was a genius taken way before his time, but this (amongst a plethora of other classic) stands testament to everything that drew me to hard rock in the first place. Just perfect."
