Lets Dive Deeper!
"One of the chasing pack behind the 'big four' Thrash trendsetters back in the day, Metal Church first hit my radar screen when I picked up an import copy of their self-titled debut from the much missed Shades in London. I was suitably impressed, particularly with how they handled the Purple classic 'Highway Star', and added them to the then rapidly expanding 'bands to watch out for' list.
So, when sophomore album 'The Dark' (still their best in my book) launched, I grabbed a copy as soon as my local vinyl emporium had them in stock and then had a frustrating wait for the working day to finish before I could get home and crank up the volume.
When I did however, the gargantuan riff of this, the opening track on the album, nearly took my head off and it's been my go to Metal Church track ever since! That raging riff plus David Wayne's instantly identifiable vocals, really left their mark on this impressionable young metalhead and whilst they've never quite made it to the top of the pile, as this more than capably demonstrates, it wasn't through a lack of great songs!"
