"The third and final Scandinavian band - the other's being Pretty Maids and TNT - that sold a young and impressionable me on the merits of looking across the North Sea to quench some of that insatiable thirst for new music that still governs my life (just ask the missus), Heavy Load were widely acknowledged as the first homegrown Heavy Metal band in Sweden.
Kerrang! had raved about them for a while and on one of my infrequent trips down to 'the smoke' - this was way before work took me to the Capital on a semi-regular basis - I picked up their second and third albums on vinyl from Shades. This, the title track of album number three, was what sold me on the band although I can't for the life of me now think where I first heard it (the inimitable Tommy Vance's 'Friday Rock Show' possibly), it's insistent riff and surprisingly catchy hook hitting me right between the eyes.
Yes, much like a lot of their NWOBHM contemporaries from across the water back then, it is perhaps a tad dated and simplistic now, but as soon as I hear it those happy memories of discovering half a dozen great new bands every week come flooding straight back."
