Lets Dive Deeper!

"If there was one song that perfectly summed up eighties AOR, then it would probably be Sister Christian. We have the long permed hair, and not just on the ladies, the soft, gentle opening, which hints at a ballad: Nah, we know that the ante will be upped when the drums and guitars kick in! The poses struck by all the band members multiple times: yep, there they are. But when all is said and done, it combines like all the elements in a perfect storm!

I can’t pinpoint exactly when I first heard this song, but it was after its release in 1983, as I was only 9 at the time! I’m tempted to say MTV, but I remember being captivated by the tune, and in all honesty, the young lady playing the title role! Having recently just come into the Rock world, it was Alan Fitzgerald’s piano skills that hooked me, and then the vocal delivery of drummer Kelly Keagy sealed the deal, plus I think it was only the second time behind Roger Taylor I had seen a drummer sing! Such a sheltered life I once led!

As for the band, I couldn’t get into them despite trying off the back of this song. I can’t put my finger on why, but we just didn’t click. However, this song will always remain a special one for me."
