"but for me, it reached its zenith with this, the title track"

Dave

Lets Dive Deeper!

"I was there at the birth of thrash metal and, like everybody else, marvelled at the angst and energy Metallica had shown on their 'Kill 'Em All' debut back in 1983. However, as a band, they were savvy enough to understand that a string of warp-speed anthems just wasn't going to sustain them longer term and, like the better punk bands from back in the day, that to survive they'd have to adapt and change. That exploded spectacularly with brilliant sophomore album 'Ride The Lightning' the following year, but for me, it reached its zenith with this, the title track of their third album in 1986. They've released some great stuff since, but for me, they've never bettered this eight-and-a-half minutes of visceral brilliance."
