What can you say about Led Zeppelin that hasn't already been said a thousand times over? Arguably the greatest rock band of all time, certainly one of the most (if not the most) successful, their legacy will endure long after they and our children's children have faded from the public consciousness. 


I get that some people struggle with Zep because the breadth of the bases they covered over a mere handful of studio albums was beyond massive, but they came from a time when artistic expression outshone the whims/diktats of popular fashion and huge sales gave them the freedom to follow their hearts. I did struggle a little with which song to pick as there are so many classics choose from (part of me was rooting for 'Achilles Last Stand' from the oft maligned 'Presence' album) but in the end I chose this juggernaut simply because, if anything, it distils for me the essence of what made Zep so special... from that unforgettable riff to Robert Plant's inimitable vocal, everything about it is just so majestic. 

Oft imitated but never bettered, Zep were the dogs danglies and then some..."
