"The Manics are a band that I have often admired from afar. I've never been a complete fan, but they do release some great songs, and this is one of them. It's a lovely haunting tune that stays circulating in the head, and is effective in its catchiness. The lyrics are very poignant and delivered in just the right tone and manner by James Bradfield. The basis of the song is about the Spanish Civil War and the Welsh volunteers that joined the fight, which I admit, I didn't know until some time afterwards. Knowing this, it somehow makes the song even more moving!"
