"Besides being fronted by one of the best and most remarkable voices of their generation"

Lets Dive Deeper!

"Originally formed as LA Rocks in the mid 80s and at one point fronted by James Christian, the best known version of Eyes featured journeyman vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Kuni, Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc.).

Their eponymous debut emerged in 1990 just as the bubble was about to burst big time for Melodic Rock bands, and as such, they never really got a fair shake of the dice in my humble opinion. And, when you listen to this gloriously hook-laden slab of guitar driven bombast, it's easy to think what might have been.

The word 'anthem' is often bandied about with increasingly monotonous regularity (yep, mea culpa, I'm guilty of that too), but if you strip it back to its core, 'Calling All Girls' is just that and then some. Besides being fronted by one of the best and most remarkable voices of their generation, the band had an innate knack for writing hooks and melodies that stuck in your brain forever, and it didn't really get better than this.

Alongside the likes of Danger Danger, Firehouse and Tyketto, Eyes really were the pick of the late bloomers for 80s Rock."
