"I was 15 or 16 when Danger Danger’s debut album landed in 1989, and although I’d heard “Bang Bang” at the time and thought it was a pretty cool song, I was still only scratching the surface of Hard Rock. It was only a few years later, when I really started getting into the genre, that I began to appreciate just what this cheeky bunch of New Yorkers were actually getting away with. Suddenly, those lyrics sung by Ted Poley seemed considerably more interesting than they had when I was a younger teenager!

There was something gloriously naughty about Danger Danger, and “Bang Bang” was right in the middle of it. The song had the hooks, the guitars and that unmistakable late-eighties Hard Rock swagger, but it was the cheeky lyrics that really grabbed my attention once I started listening properly. Needless to say, my mum wasn't exactly impressed by what I was happily blasting out, which, of course, only made it that much more appealing. Sometimes being told you shouldn't listen to something is the best possible reason to turn it up!

Looking back now, “Bang Bang” perfectly captures everything I loved about that era of Hard Rock. It was melodic, fun, ridiculously catchy and just a little bit naughty without taking itself remotely seriously. There are plenty of Danger Danger songs I could have chosen, but this is the one that takes me straight back to being a teenager discovering a whole new musical world. And let's be honest, if Mum didn't approve, it was probably even more Naughty Naughty to listen to!"
