"...that hook, once heard, never forgotten."

Lets Dive Deeper!

"The Dare debut album 'Out Of The Silence' is (quite rightly in my opinion) widely acknowledged as one of the greatest British AOR albums of all time. I recall seeing them a number of times in quick succession after it's release as they'd assumed the mantle of perennial support band (taking over from FM if memory serves) and they never disappointed. 'Abandon' was chosen as the lead single and it's easy to understand why as it took the bouncy, hook laden melodic anthems then largely the domain of American import bands and showed them how it should be done... that hook, once heard, never forgotten. Modern day cosmologists / physics undergrads may recognise the keyboard player (one Professor Brian Cox) but it was the persuasive combination of ex Thin Lizzy man Darren Wharton and guitarist Vinny Burns that defined Dare back then and continues to do so to this day. There aren't many tracks that make me think 'What if?' but this is certainly one of them..."
