UK Progressive Folk Rock Act Spriggan Mist Sign to ProgRock.com's Essentials Label; New Album to Receive Worldwide Distribution

ProgRock.com's Essentials, the Chicago-based boutique label dedicated to progressive music, is proud to announce the signing of acclaimed UK progressive folk rock band Spriggan Mist. This will see the label handle the worldwide distribution of the band's forthcoming album ‘The Glare’ which will be released on the 2nd of November 2025.

Spriggan Mist have established themselves as one of the UK's most distinctive acts in the contemporary progressive rock scene since their formation in 2009. Hailing from Bracknell, Berkshire, the band creates a fascinating amalgam of prog, folk, and rock that incorporates diverse instrumentation including saxophone, recorders, whistles, clarinet, and crumhorn. Named after the malevolent creatures from Cornish faerie folklore who guard sacred sites and ancient ruins, Spriggan Mist has captivated audiences with their unique blend of pagan-inspired music, theatrical performances, and mystical storytelling.

The band's current lineup features Fay Brotherhood on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Baz Cilia on bass and vocals, Maxine Cilia on guitars, saxophone, and woodwind, Neil Wighton on guitars, and Ali Soueidan on drums.

What sets Spriggan Mist apart is their highly theatrical live performances. Lead vocalist Fay Brotherhood takes center stage dressed as a "pagan queen of the woods" in antler headdresses and steampunk/folk clothing, delivering charismatic vocals and onstage theatrics, injecting fresh excitement into the prog scene.

The band has built a loyal following of "Sprigganista" throughout the UK and beyond, performing at prestigious festivals including HRH Prog at The O2 in Sheffield, where they were described as the "surprise package of the weekend." Other notable performances include appearances at Fusion Festival, Prog for Peart, Nene Valley Rock Festival, Cambridge Rock Festival, Weyfest and Winter’s End Festival.

The band has received critical acclaim from the progressive rock community. Prog Magazine reviewer Alison Reijman described them as "Bonkers Bedazzling and brilliant, the Mist shouldn't be missed," while The Progressive Aspect's David Edwards noted they are "definitely dynamic, progressive folk rock with light and shade throughout."
