Xandria have always understood the power of combining metal with drama, but Eclipse finds them pushing that formula into darker and more adventurous territory. The guitars have plenty of weight, yet the arrangements leave room for Celtic influences, orchestral detail and Ambre Vourvahis’ remarkably versatile voice. She can move from delicate passages to full-blooded metal vocals without making the shifts feel forced. The result is an album that sounds expansive without becoming bloated, with enough melodic strength to keep the songs memorable beneath all the grandeur.
