Albion is the eleventh studio album from English hard rock band Ten, and it stands as one of the finest entries in their long and distinguished catalogue. Released in November 2014 on Rocktopia Records, it finds vocalist and songwriter Gary Hughes at the top of his game — delivering ten tracks of melodic hard rock with no filler, no apologies, and no compromises.
Hughes takes the band back to the sound of their most melodic and most powerful albums, X, their debut, Name of the Rose, Spellbound, and Babylon are all represented in Albion's DNA. The twin guitar attack from Dann Rosingana and John Halliwell, Darrel Treece-Birch's keyboards, Steve McKenna's bass, and Dennis Ward's immaculate mix all combine to create something that sounds both timeless and urgent.
The arrangements and production are fantastic throughout — this is undoubtedly one of Ten's strongest albums, and one of the best and most consistent melodic rock records of 2014.
