After two and a half years in the making, Tony Mitchell returns with Immortalis — his most ambitious and fully realised work to date. Long envisioned as a deeply personal and unrestricted creative statement, the album represents a bold departure from genre limitations, blending elements of melodic/ hard rock, AOR, and beyond into a cohesive and immersive listening experience.
Driven by a commitment to artistic freedom, Mitchell set out to create more than just a collection of songs. Immortalis is designed as a body of work that reveals new layers with every listen — a musical journey shaped by imagination, emotion, and meticulous craftsmanship. As Mitchell explains, the goal was never to confine the record to a single style, but to build something timeless and exploratory, where each revisit uncovers something new.
🔥 FIREWORKS INSIGHT
Immortalis matters because it brings together the different chapters of Tony Mitchell’s career rather than simply looking forward. His journey from punk and hard rock through AOR and Kiss Of The Gypsy gives the album a genuine sense of musical history, while “Funky Feelin’” reaches back to material first written in 1992. That retrospective thread adds weight to the record’s more personal moments, particularly “When We Were Brothers” and “Cellar 36”. For melodic rock fans, the real interest lies in hearing how Mitchell’s experience has shaped an album that deliberately refuses to stay within one stylistic lane.
The album carries a reflective and retrospective tone, moving effortlessly between high-energy anthems and deeply emotional compositions. From the infectious hooks of “Living for the Weekend” and “Beautiful Mistake,” to the soulful grit of “Lady Jane” and the resurfaced “Funky Feelin’- originally written in 1992 during Mitchell’s time with KOTG — the record bridges past and present with authenticity and flair.

At its emotional core lie the hauntingly powerful title track “Immortalis” and the poignant “When We Were Brothers,” while the epic “The Traveller” offers a striking narrative from an outsider’s perspective — an alien observer confronting a fractured world marked by division and lost identity. Meanwhile, “Cellar 36” delivers a nostalgic and deeply personal reflection on Mitchell’s formative years rehearsing in his parents basement, capturing the raw spirit of youth, struggle, and musical journey from punk band “Subway”, landing his first record deal at the age of 18 with hard rock band “No Hard Feelings” where, by day, he handled sheets of glass working at Fleetwood glass shredding his fingers then by night, a singer guitarist where his fingers would bleed down his hands and fretboard crowds thought it was part of the show of course, then from AOR band “Fantazia” to eventually forming “Kiss of the Gypsy”. Sonically, Immortalis is expansive and richly textured. Featuring commanding vocal performances, soaring choruses, orchestral arrangements, gospel choirs, and driving guitar work, each track has been crafted with deliberate care and creative depth. The result is an album that feels both powerful and intimate, polished yet deeply human.
