Today, Luke Morley, guitarist, songwriter and producer of legendary British rock band Thunder releases ‘Breathe', the new single and video from upcoming solo album 'Walking On Water’ which drops on August 1st.

Breathe’ is unashamedly a power ballad that channels the spirit of Thunder classics like 'Love Walked In' while further emphasising the eclectic nature of the forthcoming album as demonstrated by the preceding singles ‘Walking On Water’, ‘Natural High’ and ‘Snakeskin Parachute’.

The video for ‘Breathe' was filmed inside a visually striking, immersive environment created by Lightfield London and their new sister company Beyond Light. Together they are designing pioneering sensory spaces for healthcare settings. These advanced environments are designed to help reduce stress and aid recovery for patients undergoing treatment. This is especially applicable for children who may find hospitals scary.

Morley shares the inspiration and story behind the video:

“’Breathe’ reflects some of the previous songs I’ve written in that it’s a power ballad. At the time of writing, I thought it was a very strong idea and when I played the new album to a few trusted friends, all of them without exception reacted to this song.

I was very fortunate with the video. My good friend Simon Reed had just started Beyond Light, a business that builds and designs immersive spaces. I wasn’t exactly sure what that meant to be honest until he told me it was 'something like the ‘holodeck on Star Trek’. Obviously, there are many applications that are far more important for something as potentially far reaching as this, so I was delighted to be able to use the immersive space in making the video.

Jason Joyce (director) and I came up with an idea of how we could best utilise the space to illustrate the song about a disintegrating relationship and Simon helped us realise the concept. I particularly like that I’m hardly in the video and the song’s narrative is beautifully acted by our actors George Grant (frontman of hotly tipped band Black Lounge), Rebecca Tervit and Philip Serfaty. It’s certainly a departure from other videos I’ve made and it’s nice to not have to look at myself for a change!'”

Founder of Beyond Light, Simon Reed says “Prior to building our immersive studio, we cut our teeth as designers producing content and augmented physical and digital stage set backdrops for TV programmes and commercials. The new studio equipped with 360-degree digital projection seemed to be a natural visual canvas to create atmosphere for Luke and Jason’s vision and storytelling for this track.”
