‘God Shaped Hole’ is the band’s best album to date, incorporating their signature sound into a more mature and radio friendly release.

Welsh quintet Those Damn Crows have been causing quite a buzz on the Rock scene. This Modern Rock band is the antithesis of the New Wave Of Classic Rock that has gained popularity in recent times, offering something different and more contemporary whilst retaining a sense of melody.
Album number four follows two years after ‘Inhale/Exhale’ and is again produced by the excellent Dan Weller. It sticks to the formula that made that album a resounding success, but twists it to add a greater degree of accessibility and commerciality.
Opener ‘Dancing With The Enemy’ gets the ball rolling, it’s heavy, energetic with a great hook and melodic backing vocals. If you think that’s the extent of the band’s hookiness follow-up ‘Glass Heart’ trashes that theory with its Pop Punk-like pace
and glorious chorus. The Gospel-esque ‘Dreaming’ allows Shane Greenhill to shine with his bluesy, soulful voice, ‘Psycho In My Head’ is a worthy slice of Modern Rock made for arenas as is the thumping but equally melodic ‘No Surrender’ and the laid-back Country-tinged Rock of ‘The Night Train’ (think a modernised Bon Jovi’s ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’ and you won’t be far off.)
‘God Shaped Hole’ is the band’s best album to date, incorporating their signature sound into a more mature and radio friendly release. Perhaps the group has an eye on the US market.
