Tarja unleashes her brand-new metal album “Frisson Noir” today, 12th June 2026 via earMUSIC, the heaviest record of her career and a powerful statement of identity, strength and belonging. After years of exploring different musical landscapes, Tarja stands firmly where she belongs: in metal.
The first leading into “Frisson Noir” already made clear that Tarja was entering a new chapter. With “At Sea”, she opened the album world through a ten-minute epic full of cinematic depth, emotion and dramatic intensity, before pushing the darkness even further with “I Don’t Care”, featuring Dani Filth in one of the standout metal collaborations of the year. “The Trace Outlives” then brought the Fans to its emotional peak and set the final tone for the album’s release. The three singles were voted by readers of Classic Rock as the track of the week when they were released.
“Frisson Noir” reflects Tarja’s ongoing dialogue between cinematic orchestration, classical heritage, and the power and intensity of contemporary metal. The album moves between intimate piano passages, dramatic orchestral textures, and powerful guitar-driven moments. Fans can also listen to “Frisson Noir” exclusively on Apple Music in Dolby Atmos.
“The best collection of songs she ever recorded”

“Tarja in peak form!”
Rock Hard
“The heaviest and darkest Tajra album up to date”
Fireworks Rock & Metal Magazine

The full album places Tarja’s distinctive voice at the center, moving effortlessly between fragile emotional expression and operatic power. Orchestral arrangements, choirs and layered instrumentation create a cinematic world between darkness and light, exploring themes of fear, beauty, resilience, transformation, identity, trust and perseverance.
Across 10 tracks, Tarja delivers intensity, emotion, and strength, joined by special guest Dani Filth (of Cradle of Filth), Apocalyptica, Marko Hietala (ex-Nightwish), and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers). Mixed by GRAMMY-nominated producer Neal Avron (Linkin Park, Skillet, Disturbed), the album blends a modern, hard-hitting sound with the dramatic and emotional elements that define Tarja’s unmistakable metal identity.
The album is available in retail as CD Digipak, Black 2LP Gatefold and Ltd. Purple 2LP Gatefold. Further exclusive formats include signed editions and a strictly limited Collectors Box Set.The first pressing of all formats is finished with high-quality copper foil and logo embossing.
