PreHistoric Animals Release Powerful Anti-War Single – Stupidity for Beginners.

Swedish progressive/alternative rock band PreHistoric Animals return with a bold and urgent new single, Stupidity for Beginners, released Thursday 29th May 2025.
A direct and uncompromising track, Stupidity for Beginners is a protest song aimed squarely at “war, fascism, and other stupidities around the world”. The single follows the critical success of the band’s fourth studio album, Finding Love in Strange Places, released on 16th May 2024, an ambitious concept record described as “a dystopian version of Love Actually”. It tells unlikely love stories: a country girl and a female cyber soldier; a spontaneous marriage followed by a sinister ‘proof of love’ programme; and a factory worker set on destruction until she falls in love with a colleague. These tales are set against a darkly cinematic 80s-inspired sound, featuring de-tuned heavy riffs, intricate yet groovy rhythms, and the signature melodic playfulness that fans have come to expect.
Fresh from a triumphant performance at the Midsummer Prog Festival last weekend, the band now turn their focus to this politically charged single.
“Inspired by the fact that the world right now seems to be ruled by an ever-increasing number of stupid people,” says the guitarist Daniel Magdič, “we just had to create a very straightforward, groovy and aggressive track. We didn’t want to wait to release this one.”
Stupidity for Beginners will be available to stream worldwide and download for free. However, the band are urging fans and listeners to support organisations such as UNHCR and UNICEF, which provide aid to those suffering from war, fascism, and a lack of humanity.
Magdič adds: “This song is dedicated to all the people out there paying the price for fascism and warfare. We’re currently working on a new album, which we hope to release by the end of the year, but this track couldn’t wait.”
