The song took on its own life with James and I creating the lyrics and melodies. To tell you the truth it came out of us like butter, pronounced as a New Yorker- “BUTTAH”

It’s been almost 10 years since Robin’s last release, ‘Love Is Coming’, back in 2017. During the prevailing years there’s been rumours of gigs and a possible ‘Best Of’ album, but here in 2026 we finally see the delightful chanteuse with her latest solo album, ‘Living Proof’.

The title track, written with Tommy Denander and husband James Christian, has recently been released as the debut single, and the Shania Twain rocker sure seemed like a fun song to record and film.

“Well, it all started with the title. ‘Living Proof’ is a testimony of my own journey and strengths over the years. My writing partners are Tommy Denander and James Christian on this one. Tommy wrote a runaway track and OMG, that solo and his playing was outstanding! The song took on its own life with James and I creating the lyrics and melodies. To tell you the truth it came out of us like butter, pronounced as a New Yorker- “BUTTAH” [laughs]

The video is also brilliant …tell us about the making of this?

“It was meant to be shot in NY, my home town, but the weather was wicked so we decided to do it South Florida. The video came out a lot different than we were planning, a la city scape and the lights of the NY scene. In the end I think it could not have been better, only different. As they say, “Everything happens for a reason” and in this case it gave us an open canvas to be creative and dare I say, so much fun!”

You have a song called ‘Trouble or Nothing’, which made me smile. Has it been in your mind for some time to write a song with the title of your debut album?

“Ahhh, the long awaited ‘Trouble Or Nothing’. I had written a completely different song for the original album, but it was not to be. With song writers like Diane Warren and Desmond Child I had to make choices, and I believe it would have been in place of ‘Sleeping With The Enemy’. I knew I wanted to write a completely new version, so once again Tommy laid down another great idea for us to run with. “

The songs: some are not typical Robin Beck songs, as seen on your previous albums. I understand the desire to diversify. Tell us about the thoughts behind these songs?

“Each song has its own sway and story. I was also going for that electric and live sound that was missing from my previous records. I chose each song based on how they made me feel. My writing parter and close friend Peppy Castro (Blues Magoos, Balance and Barneby Bye) was really the catalyst. Christmas came early when Peppy presented me with eight amazing songs and more to choose from. I mean it was a very exciting listening party that never ended. In choosing the songs I was very careful to include their universal message and not to lose the chosen vibe.”

For many years, we’ve been talking about a ‘Best Of’. What’s the situation there?

“Waiting for the right moment. I’m just not ready to look back when I’m so busy looking ahead. “

How do you personally see the difference between the requirements of the fans from the late 80s until now?

“Honestly? I don’t! The requirement was good solid Rock music then, and that still stands today!”

What would the Robin Beck of today tell her younger self from the late 80s?

“Not much! I think my instincts were pretty good and you know you can’t tell me anything [laughs].”

Are we likely to see you playing live over in Europe anytime soon, besides the Frontiers festival?

“You can find me in Vienna at the Forever 80er Festival in July. More to come. “
