Doro does everything with so much enthusiasm and joy; her releases are uplifting, and remind us all why we love the music we do. This release is no exception!

Doro never rests! Since her last album she has been busy, including planning ‘Metal Queen’ Cruises along the Rhine, in relation to which the idea for this album was born. It’s a special edition on her own label, pending a new studio album, and, incredibly, a limited edition of the vinyl record contains blue curaçao, which can be drunk (as opposed to Rhine water that they considered at first, which probably wouldn’t have looked half so nice). If you don’t want to splash out so much (see what I did there), there is a picture disc version.
The title track is everything you would expect from Doro, a big Rock anthem that will go down a storm on a Metal cruise, complete with infectious chorus and sounds of crashing waves at the beginning. ‘Touch Too Much’ is the AC/DC song, but what a barnstorming version! I think I love it more with Doro’s voice. It’s bound to be very popular; also, she doesn’t change the pronouns, making it a very saucy version bound to fuel a few fantasies.
‘Tattooed Angels’ is a track from 2014, written especially for the Wildstyle tattoo convention, previously released only on a compilation of tattoo theme records, and so appearing the first time on a Doro release; it’s another catchy crowd anthem. ‘Horns Up High’, originally from the digital EP ‘Conqueress Extended’, could be a sea shanty, and so sits very well on this record, as does ‘Seelied’ (English translation ‘Song Of The Sea’), a melancholy piano ballad originally on ‘Für Immer’.
The second part of the record contains flawless live versions of ‘Children Of The Dawn’ and ‘Fire In The Sky’ from ‘Conqueress’, ‘Above The Ashes’ from ‘Warrior Soul’, and ‘Revenge’ and ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ from the album ‘Raise Your Fist’. Doro lives for playing live for the fans, so it’s understandable that these would be included to round out the album. Since the performances and recordings from their last tour are very high quality, they are listenable over and over again, so you won’t just be listening to Side A of the album.
Doro does everything with so much enthusiasm and joy; her releases are uplifting, and remind us all why we love the music we do. This release is no exception!
