SKINDRED

Welsh ragga metal legends Skindred are currently celebrating the news that their brand-new album You Got This is leading the race for this Friday’s No.1 Album, with the album sitting at the top spot on the Official Midweek Album chart.

That said the band are keen not to count their chickens too early as they have been in this position before, with 2023’s album Smile, and missed out last time around at the very last minute by just 150 sales.

As singer Benji says, “If they can put a man on the moon hopefully there should be some hope for putting a Ragga Metal band from Newport to number 1 in the UK album charts. The love we have been receiving for our new album has been amazing. Thank you to everyone who has gone out and bought a copy.”

Fresh from their show-stopping appearance on Sunday Brunch this weekend, they are currently leading the pack ahead of new albums from a number of major label artists. And as anyone who has heard the album knows, You Got This is an all-killer-no-filler set which features everything that people love about the band – hard-hitting slammers, mega addictive hooks, earwormy soundclash elements, and dancehall vibes.

This is showcased on singles such as ‘Can I Get A’, which is currently A-list on BBC Radio Wales, on the playlist at Absolute Radio 20s and #1 most-played track on Kerrang Radio, #2 on Planet Rock and #3 on Total Rock Radio.

You Got This is getting rave reviews across the board.

Reviews for You Got This

“Bursting with positivity and passion” – The Sun

“Slimmed down to a trio, the ragga-rockin’ ravers have lost none of their eclectic power [paying] tribute to those about to rock” – Sunday Mirror

“Skindred put their own distinctive spin on heavy rock by adding rap, reggae and dancehall elements to guitarist Mikey’s crunching riffs… Singer Benji exudes energy throughout while drummer Arya is an inventive rhythmic anchor” – Daily Mail

“Full of energy, attitude and a relentless, celebratory sense of fun… It’s also chock-a-block with absolutely stonking tunes” – Kerrang

“A hook-laden amalgam of metal riffs, arena-rock bounce and ragga-spitting vocals…You Got This will surely be one of the year’s most instantaneous, joyous technicolour listens” – Metal Hammer

“A lean, fiery affair: think sucker-punch riffs, hooky melodies, reggae sunshine, a touch of heartbreak. Songs play like short stories, packed with humour, hardships and messages of empowerment” – Classic Rock

“Reggae and metal combine uniquely and brilliantly with Skindred, whose new album You Got This continues their upward trajectory [with] singer Benji Webbe, by some distance the most charismatic frontman in British metal” – Record Collector

“An excellent record that keeps you on your toes… it’s the heaviest record they’ve ever released and segues into a proper reggae sound” – Fireworks

“A hard-hitting, emotional triumph” – Metal Talk
