WHITE LION - WHEN THE CHILDREN CRY
Pete says, "This superb song from American Glam Metal band White Lion totally passed me by when it was first released in 1988. In my defence I was only 14 at the time and other things were catching my attention, however it resurfaced in my timeline about four years later, an to my shame and total embarrassment, for ages I though the lead singer was David Lee Roth (I’m so sorry Mike Tramp), it appeared that a visit to Specsavers was needed back then as well!
Eventually, I was put right to Mike’s identity, and with that, I managed to catch the tail end of their career before they disbanded in 1991. The song ‘When The Children Cry’ came from their second (and in my opinion, best) album Pride. You always need a good closing song to round an album off, and this one was perfect. Soft in sound, Tramp’s voice blended in perfectly with Vito Bratta’s guitar.
Never as successful in the UK as perhaps they should have been, this song, and the album Pride holds very fond musical (if not singer) memories for me."
