ICON - RAISE THE HAMMER

Dave says: We all have those albums where we could never figure out why the artists that created it didn't become the household names that countless lessor contemporaries became. 'Night Of The Crime', the sophomore album from Phoenix based quintet Icon, represents perhaps one of the biggest miscarriage's of justice of the 80s. They had the look, they had the hooks and they sure a hell had a batch of songs to die for, yet why Capitol couldn't push them into the big time still amazes me. Maybe they were a little too early to the party in late 1985, maybe the departure of vocalist Steven Clifford cut their legs off before they began, but every time I hear the rabble-rousing 'Raise The Hammer' it takes me right back to that 19-year-old who sat open mouthed listening to it for the very first time. A timeless classic!

From the album

Five people are dimly lit in a red-tinted image with "AFTER -MATH" in bold white text. The mood is mysterious and moody.
