THUNDER - LOW LIFE IN HIGH PLACES
Dave says: "I remember my interest in the Bowes/Morley partnership being piqued when I first heard their previous band Terraplane (well, the debut album at least), but was absolutely blown away when that initial promise eventually morphed into the Blues Rock brilliance of Thunder. I saw them (for the first of many times) supporting Aerosmith about the time that debut album 'Backstreet Symphony' came out and have been an avid follower ever since. Not only did they have one of the best voices of their generation - I firmly believe that Danny's vocals are on a par with the likes of Coverdale and Rodgers in their heyday - but in Luke they also had one of it's greatest songwriters. This track, taken from their second album 'Laughing On Judgement Day' resonates particularly well, it's timeless hooks and melodies blending effortlessly with that wonderfully clued-in social commentary. I've seen them play it live many times and still spin it regularly at home... the type of song the word 'classic' was invented for."
