THE REVIEW
Words Of Wisdom!
Robben Ford has such a wide spread of brilliant styles – Blues, Funk, Soul, a bit of Rock – that he isn’t defined musically. And he should be, oh, he should. The evidence?
‘Make My Own Weather’ is right, a warm breeze with fruity sax and coiling guitar, there’s slow and sultry Blues for ‘Black Night’, a jamming ‘The Fire Flute’ and ‘The Light Fandango’, sax and guitar interplay aplenty.
"Robben Ford has such a wide spread of brilliant style"
He covers ‘Jealous Guy’ with a Soul sax chorus and a big feel to end, and we finish with another lovely, flowing jam, ‘The Feeling’s Mutual’, the guitar jabbing in as the organ takes centre stage, then uncorking some six-string sharpness whilst the horns gently sway in the background.
"He covers ‘Jealous Guy’ with a Soul sax chorus and a big feel to end"
This is just great; cool, calm, creative… and charming, too. Did you think it would be any different? ‘Two Shades Of Blue’? No, it’s a lot more, as is Robben Ford, a lot more...
