THE REVIEW
Words Of Wisdom!
At the time of this writing, I must tell you that I’m in the dark when it comes to actually who is this fine ensemble of musicians! However, just look at the name of the group – Phantom Vengeance – and most likely this is also a marketing strategy… and a darn good one! Whomever is responsible for the marketing of this group’s debut album has got me smiling and hooked. ‘Ghost Of A Warrior’ is a very ambitious package of ten connected legendary performances that match the legends of knights, kingdoms and advancing battles. Set in the Middle Ages, we are about to embark upon a majestic adventure thanks to the performers and writers, and their epic musical work.
‘Ghost Of A Warrior’ is a master craft of writing and supernatural musical talent that has Peter Cox mastering the recording and the intriguing artwork. He is certainly heavily involved in this phantom group, and I also think that Cox is the label manager of Rock Company – and may be the mastermind behind not only of the marketing of this debut, but maybe the group itself. The writing and recording is credited to Phantom Vengeance.
"‘Ghost Of A Warrior’ is a master craft of writing"
So what are we hearing? A powered exercise of Progressive Metal that touches upon themes of honour, grand ambitions and Middle Aged warfare, all set to equally powered music. Whomever makes up this group, their musicianship is out of this world, and their skill of songwriting and performance is off the scale.
In further listening to this album, I would close my eyes and immediately could see the battlefields, the mountainous passages and the kingdoms with masses led by the ‘Black Knight’ – an example of how this music and the lyrical content can paint such a musical picture in motion.
A true cinematic experience that is covered with gorgeous musical statements and lines, this debut is actually the introduction of those musicians involved at the top of their collective, and they have actually started their collective at the top. It’s an album that was crafted to the highest degree. Each piece so rich, so excellently performed and sang, and each creation becomes so cinematic that we are totally immersed. Sonically, ‘Ghost Of A Warrior’ is beyond belief.
"Whomever makes up this group, their musicianship is out of this world"
So the adventure begins, and for me? I need to know who is behind this masterpiece? I also need to know if these artists are going to take their musical creations into the arenas! What a beautiful experience that will be.
